NZ Open Water Championships and Epic Swim - Taupo

A huge well done to our four swimmers competing in Taupo. We are very proud of you all.

Day Two Results

Conditions not quite as favourable as day one and water temp still a little low, we’ve had some great results.

NZ 5km Open Water Championship: Marcell Kepess 4th 13-14 year boys, 40th overall and Sophie Pahl 13th 15-17 year girls, 50th overall.

Mid Epic 1km: Keshia Linyard 6th 12-14 year girls, 15th overall and Nia Linyard 8th 12-14 year girls, 36th overall.

And then the amazing relay stunned again with their 4 x 1 km swims, winning 3rd mixed team.

Day One Results

Nia 1st Female in the 500 m Epic and also winning her age group.

In the NZ Open Water 2.5km Championships Marcell swam a great race to end up 20th male and fifth in his age group. An awesome effort and a highly competitive time. Sophie finished a creditable 28th overall female and 18th in her very competitive age group with Keshia finishing one place behind her to take 10th in her age group.

The 4 x 500 m Epic Relay concluded the day and turned into a very exciting match up. Former and current swimming stars teamed up and raced some of the younger competitors. Tasman had a fantastic race; the event saw lots of exciting lead changes that kept everyone on the side of a lake entertained right to the very end. Tasman was the 4th team overall and 3rd Mixed team to finish, narrowly pipped by a team who ended up apparently only milliseconds ahead. Good luck to the swimmers for their races tomorrow. We are very proud of you all! For full results check out: https://www.racetecresults.com/Results.aspx?CId=16529&RId=200
