Swimming NZ have provided some updates regarding the competition pathway overview and changes to SNZ events from 2023. They have also announced the dates and venues for the 2023 and 2024 SNZ Event Calendar. Please take the time to read through each update as they link together from 1 to 5.

Swimming NZ Update 7th September 2022

Development Meets

  • Racing opportunity with a focus on fun

  • No disqualifications

  • No requirement for technical sign-off

  • Results still uploaded to SNM database

  • Possible coach support

  • Results can be used as qualifying times for school/club events, regional championships and Junior Festival only.

  • Results can’t be used for National Championships, NAGS, Opens, NZ Short Course etc.

  • SNM plan approx. 4 Development meets in coming year – XLR8, Hot 100s etc

Designated Meets

  • Provide the opportunity for swimmers to gain qualifying times for National competitions.

  • Focus on performance

  • Coach support

  • 10 Designated meets permitted per swimming calendar year (July-June)

Our AGM will be held on 15th of September in the Saxton Football Pavillon starting at 2:00 pm.

Meet to be held at the Richmond Aquatic Centre.

This competition is designed to give all registered Swimming NZ members aged 12 years old or younger the opportunity to compete against other athletes from across the South Island.

Bring lots of warm clothes, towels, sunscreen, sunblock and a blanket/warm jacket is ideal for the swimmers as it is an outdoor meet.

Qualification Criteria - Swimmers may enter a maximum of 9 individual events.

NT (no times) will be accepted except for 200m Butterfly, 400m Free, 400m IM, 800m Free & 1500m Free. Individual entry times are to be generated by the Swimming NZ Database from designated (approved) competitions.

Swimming Wellington 13 & Over LC Champs 2023 being held at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre on 1st-3rd of December 2023. This meet would normally be held in January 2024 but has been moved to December 2023.
